MERV rating and airflow
A finer filter can capture smaller particles, but the actual fan and duct system determine acceptable resistance.
What to observe
Record furnace model, filter area and any existing airflow complaint before choosing denser media.
A field example
If a stronger filter coincides with weaker room airflow or a hotter-running cabinet, document the timing. Resistance should be assessed against the actual blower and rack; the number printed on the package cannot answer that alone.
What the written work should say
Ask whether the proposed filter is supported by equipment guidance and whether airflow or static pressure needs checking.
Where this task stops
No universal MERV upgrade is safe for every undersized rack; consult the manufacturer and technician.
